Aims and Scope
The University of Illinois Journal of Medicine (UIJM) endeavors to cultivate a robust dialogue among the clinical, foundational, and applied sciences. Our mission is to facilitate the seamless progression of innovation pathways in healthcare, presenting solutions-oriented approaches to contemporary medical challenges. We enthusiastically invite submissions from a diverse array of disciplines, with a pronounced emphasis on clinician-led innovations that address and illuminate critical issues within the healthcare landscape. Given our roots in student initiative, UIJM particularly welcomes contributions from medical students and clinicians-in-training, providing a valuable platform for aspiring academics to engage in scholarly discourse and contribute to the advancement of medical science. We aim to highlight work that not only advances theoretical knowledge but also translates into practical, real-world applications that improve patient outcomes. The UIJM is dedicated to promoting equity in healthcare, encouraging submissions that explore health disparities, and proposing strategies to achieve more inclusive and effective healthcare systems. Through rigorous peer review and a commitment to academic excellence, the UIJM strives to uphold the highest standards of scientific integrity and impact.
Copyright and Licensing
When an author submits a manuscript, they will need to sign a non-exclusive license agreement with UIJM/IOPN providing us legal permission to publish their article. According to this agreement, authors of articles published in UIJM/IOPN retain the copyright to their articles but grant UIJM/IOPN a license to publish the article and identify itself as the original publisher. UIJM supports open access by publishing articles under the Creative Commons License 4.0, either CC-BY or CC-NC-BY. We do not currently charge any article processing fees.

UIJM is sponsored by Carle Illinois College of Medicine, the medical school of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Due to this close collaboration, there are unique pathways where medical students may publish their curricular research with UIJM. We are also currently working towards developing more connections with other departments within the University of Illinois.
