Constructing Solidarities for a Humane Urbanism

Displacement, Racism and Alienation in the Time of Late Capitalism

In this section, we seek to understand the broader forces and structures, policies and institutions that produce and facilitate the inhumane urbanism that we live today. The evictions, displacement, alienation, and racial capitalism are systematically produced and their effects are borne by racialized, ethnicized, gendered, and classed bodies across the globe. In the modules that follow, we learn about financialized and racialized mechanisms and institutions through which global capitalism in its late stage deals with its crisis of accumulation in cities of the global south and north. This section intends to set the stage and lay out the larger processes that movements are facing and fighting.
