Et Al.: New Voices in Arts Management

Stream⁴ : Shifting Research

Critical action is informed by creative inquiry and social research. Inquiry informs the decisions we make in our everyday lives and is integral to teaching, learning, and creating. In that respect, we are all researchers. In these essays—“White Space / Black Space + Occupational Hierarchy = Racial Battle Fatigue” by Yvonne Farrow, “The Process is the Goal: A Candid Discussion about Research in the Arts” by Cobi Krieger and Tatiana Vahan, and “From Observer to Researcher” by Katrina Sullivan—, the authors dig into the research process to unearth information about Black lives as civic leaders, to queer and humanize data collection, and to reject ableism in order to make arts and cultural programs and spaces accessible for all.
