Gentlemen Prefer Blondes: A Critical Edition

Lorelei's Paris

While Lorelei's Paris also clusters in a particular area, she makes some actual trips to slightly more dispersed locales, including one out of the city to Versailles.

Paris has the only location that was removed from the magazine version of the text when it was republished with Boni & Liveright: specifically, La Jardin de ma Soeur, a nightclub that had changed names in 1922 and likely was removed for for that reason. In her autobiography A Girl Like I, Loos mentions having gone to La Jardin de ma Soeur during her first trip to Paris, and she appears to have assumed it was still there when writing the initial version of Blondes. The club is not replaced with another location in the text.

One location in Paris was new to the book edition, the restaurant Café de la Paix, added as a place Lady Beekman's lawyers leave Lorelei while they telephone Lady Beekman to ask for more money to pay for her shopping.
