The Great Depression and the New Deal: Transient Division Newsletter from Macon, Georgia

About this Edition

This is Vol. 1, No. 33 of the Georgia Transient Division’s The New Deal newsletter from the Macon Bureau. The physical newsletter currently resides in the private collection of Dr. Nathan Tye. In order to present this artifact we first began with TIF images of each page provided by Dr. Tye; we then converted them into .png files. Included in this edition are images of the front and back covers, as well as all 16 pages of the newsletter. All of the pages are single-sided, so we excluded the blank backsides of each page. This approach allowed us to eliminate superfluous content and use smaller, more accessible files. We have not made any other alterations to the source. We've provided digital annotations throughout the newsletter to provide the necessary context. There are also transcriptions in the form of annotations for words that may be difficult to read due to their fonts.

There are a few notable limitations to this approach. By excluding images of the backsides, we are not presenting the source in its entirety. Additionally, the .png images are of lower quality than the original TIFs; the detail and zoom capabilities are reduced. Overall, however, we feel these choices enhanced the presentation of the source.
