Adscripta al Programa de Investigación Desarrollo Sociocultural
y Educación Permanente, dependiente del Instituto de Investigaciones
en Ciencias de la Educación "A group of Argentine researchers from different disciplines formed from 1997 the Interdisciplinary Area of Sports Studies , trying to converge the different contributions of those who are thinking about the issue of sport in Argentina. Among the objectives of the Area are the organization of the bibliography and the existing documentation on Social Studies of Sports in different languages; the realization of courses, seminars and discussion days, and the realization of new research in this field of studies. An earlier initiative of our production resulted in the appearance of the book Sports and Society (Eudeba, 1998), whose good reception shows the interest that the analysis of sport in our country is awakening in readers, carried out from different perspectives and themes."
