Cuadernos del Mundial This website provides visual and writing material critically analyzing the 2018 FIFA World Cup considering its political, social, and cultural dimensions. The effort replicates a similar one produced for the previous World Cup in 2014, in Brazil. The site is published by the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales, CLACSO), a very influential network of Latin American scholars and think tanks developing critical scholarship in and about a wide variety of Latin American issues. One of the CLACSO's working groups is "Sports, public policies, and society (Deporte, políticas públicas y sociedad) and their members feed this website. The material available includes a periodical about the FIFA World Cup, as well as videos, and audios. The material produced about the 2014 FIFA World Cup is also available. CINEfoot This is the official website of CINEfoot -Festival de Cinema de Futebol that since 2010 has been exhibiting movies, documentaries, and short films exclusively focused on football not only produced in Brazil, but worldwide, portraying football idols and events from Brazil, such as Pelé and Nilton Santos, but also internationally recognized, such as Messi, Ronaldo, Forlan, Gascoigne, or Cruyff. The webpage provides information about all the festivals' edition since the first one, in 2010, including the titles and sinopsis of every film showed, every year. Most of the information is in Portuguese, but the sinopsis of each film is also available in English. CINEfoot also has a YouTube channel that includes trailers. Manchete Esportiva "Manchete Esportiva" was a sports magazine published in Brazil between 1955-1959. Later, it became a sports news show screened by the television channel TV Manchete. The magazine "Manchete Esportiva", distributed weekly, focused mainly on football soccer and was considered one of the most popular soccer magazines. The UIUC library recently acquired issues covering years 1956-1959 and there are also available issues from October 1977 to July 1979 as part of the Latina American and the Caribbean collection. It has been collected by the DLLACS collection at the Latin American & Caribbean Studies Library.
