Florence Mills

Florence Mills was a cabaret jazz singer and dancer who had a breakout role in the 1921 play Shuffle Along. She led her own troupe of dancers at a Harlem club called The Plantation, and her performances were covered as a key destination for the fashionable in New York. Later she headlined a Broadway show The Plantation Review.
